Modern NAVY SEAL GEAR System (Part 2)

MAR-CIRAS Body Armor System

Super Famous !! The Eagle Industries Maritime Combat Integrated Releasable Armor System (MARCIRAS™) is the armor carrier of choice for USSOCOM (BALCS-R). The CIRAS™ vest incorporates a single release cable (Patent Pending) that makes the assembly process easier than it's predecessors. There are two versions of the Eagle CIRAS vest, the Maritime (CMS-MAR-CIRAS™) and the Land version (CMS-MC-CIRAS™). Many SEAL operators use the Khaki Maritime CMS-MAR-CIRAS. The QD release cable is located at the collar area (see pictures).

The MAR-CIRAS is fully covered by MOLLE / PALS webbings. Operators can mount different types of MOLLE pouches on it. Besides, many tactical companies also offer single point sling system for the CIRAS. These slings usually integrate at the shoulders of the CIRAS. Bottom pictures shown a fully loaded MAR-CIRAS.

RRV + plate carrier backed

Eagle industries Rhodesian Recon Vest (RRV) is a MOLLE platform vest with the ability to carry armor plate inside. The front bid of the RRV can be folded down, which change the system to a lower profile chest rig. The shoulder straps can be worn in X-shape or H-shape too. Khaki Color. As you can see, there is no ballistic protection at the back. To solve this problem, Eagle industries offer a special connection kit. By using this connection kit, you can connect the back panel of a Eagle industries standard plate carrier to a RRV.  Perfect !

MLCS Gen II War Belt + Gen 1 Suspender

MLCS Gen II War Belt. The Gen II war belt is an upgrade version of the Gen 1 war belt. Black color foam pad is added, making the belt more rigid and  more comfortable to wear. Besides, color matched plastic and metal buckles are used. Khaki color.

Gen 1 Low profile war belt suspender. It is a very well designed suspender. Very low profile, and fully adjustable, a perfect partner of the War Belt. Khaki color.

The Gen II suspender (no picture) has a more simpler design at the back "Y" part. Otherwise they are very similar.

Modern NAVY SEAL GEAR System (Part 1)

The modern tactical nylon gear system of the Navy SEAL is very similar to the USMC Force Recon FSBE II gear system. The system is modular and MOLLE compatible. Operator can custom equip himself for different operations. SEAL use two MOLLE gear systems, the Maritime Load Carriage System (MLCS) developed by Eagle industries, and the Maritime Ballistic Survivor System (MBSS) system. The MBSS system consists a plate carrier,  various MOLLE pouches and a small backpack.

MLCS RRV Chest Rig:

MLCS H-Harness:

Eagle industries H-Harness is a MOLLE compatible platform. It is similar to those LBT H Harness system, except it is MOLLE compatible. There are four sets of flotation foam comes with the system (two thin, and two thick). This is a favorite land / maritime H-harness for Mk-46, M60E4, and SAW gunners. Khaki Color.

Navy SEAL MBSS System:

Maritime Ballistic Survivor System (MBSS). This system consists of a plate carrier, various mag pouches, Admin panels, and a small backpack called the MAP (Modular assault pack). The pictures show a L / XL size MBSS Plate Carrier. This plate carrier accepts soft armor panels, and armor plates. There is a drag handle at the back as well. The MBSS plate carrier doesn't offer side protection like the newer plate carrier does. A special note, many readers thought the MBSS plate carrier is made by Eagle industries. In fact, it is not, we have verified this issue with the designers of Eagle industries. This plate carrier is not a component of the MLCS system.

Issue and Commercial MLCS items:

We have received many questions about the issued and commercial MLCS items. Yes, they do have difference. The issued MLCS items is more Khaki in tone. The commercial items is more Khaki green in tone. Besides, issued MLCS items has black plastic buckles, instead of the tan buckles. The buckle issue may relate to manufacture date. Lastly, the safety webbing on the issued items is different from the commercial items (sorry, we don't  have the commercial item pictures for comparison). In a short note, we personally feel that the issued MLCS items have a higher quality over the commercial items.

On the other hand, the MBSS gear is not available commercially.
